PLANTING TREES FOR THE FUTURE: BAWLF ELEVATOR

A recent initiative at our Bawlf elevator in Alberta perfectly illustrates this commitment. A couple of weeks ago, our team rolled up their sleeves and planted 10 beautiful Colorado Blue Spruce trees sourced from a local tree farm. For us, it truly felt like Christmas, watching the spruces take root in the very community that’s helped turn over just over 100,000 tons of barley over the past two years. These trees aren’t just a gesture—they represent our dedication to sustainability and community care.
One Tree for Every 10,000 Tons of Barley
In recognition of our barley turnover at the Bawlf elevator, we planted a tree for every 10,000 tons processed over the last two years. Each tree symbolizes not only the hard work and dedication that goes into our malting process but also our long-term vision of environmental stewardship. As a business rooted in tradition, we understand that nurturing the earth today ensures we’ll be able to continue working with it tomorrow.
But we’re not stopping here! Next fall, we plan to plant another 6-7 trees to continue growing this initiative. These trees are a small part of our larger goal to be a positive environmental force within the community and across the malt supply chain.
