BESTBREWCHALLENGE IS BACK!

By Hailey Nelson

Each year, German maltster, BESTMALZ, hosts their BestBrewChallenge, a competition where brewers from all around the globe can brew a beer simultaneously for the chance to be awarded some awesome industry prizes.

As their North American distributor, we’re working with BESTMALZ to spread the word and invite North American brewers to participate in this global battle of the beers! The brew days must occur between April 20-23 with all contenders worldwide using similar grain bills in different countries and time zones.

The Recipe

To participate, all you need to do is brew a Dark Dopplebock style beer using BEST Black Malt eXtra in compliance with the German purity law.

How to Enter

Register on the BestBrewChallenge website by April 19, 2023 and send the completed documentation sheet and at least three liters of your beer to BESTMALZ HQ in Heidelberg, Germany by July 5, 2023.

About Dark Dopplebocks

This beer style is characterized by a strong, not too sweet and malty character as well as a full body. Hop flavor and bitterness are rather low and the beer color is typically between light brown and black. Although you must use the darkest malt from BESTMALZ, according to the beer style definition, no prominent roasted malt flavor should appear in the Dark Doppelbock.
